Professor David S. Cohen Quoted on Proposed Ultrasound Mandate for Women Seeking Abortions
February 06, 2012
The Daily Pennsylvanian quoted Professor David S. Cohen Feb. 5 on the Women’s Right to Know Act, which has been introduced in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
The law would require women seeking abortions to undergo an ultrasound at least 24 hours before the procedure, and medical personnel performing the test would be required to point the monitor toward the patient.
Cohen questioned the constitutionality of the bill and said it’s “inherently sexist” because it assumes women do not know how to make decisions for themselves.
